NUT overseas base in Santiago, Chile was established to strengthen GTP activities

Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) has been promoting the global industry-academia-government activities toward the"Top Global University Project"lunched by MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) , and consequently, on 24th November, NUT posted a coordinator in Santiago, the capital of the country as a contact person of whole of Chile. This is the eighth desk/office following Mongolia, Mexico, Viet Nam, Thailand, Malaysia, Basque Country (Spain) , and India.

NUT and 5 universities in Chile (Universidad de Chile in Santiago, Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María in Valparaíso, Universidad de Antofagasta in Antofagasta, Universidad de Catolica Norte in Antofagasta, and Universidad de Concepción in Concepción) were concluded the Academic Cooperation Agreement respectively and NUT will promote the expansion of collaborative education program, acceptance of internship, industry-academia collaboration, and collaboration with local companies in Chile through the coordinator in Santiago.

At the same time, an exchange meeting related to global industry-academia collaboration"global development support by GIGAKU Techno Park (GTP) "was held in commemoration of opening the overseas base in Chile. Companies which desire the utilization of GTP to encourage collaborative researches and human resources attended and exchanged information and views of current situations actively.

President Dr. Azuma and others also visited the ambassador's residence in Santiago and JETRO Santiago. Mr. Hiraishi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Chile will support our activities such as international cooperative education and industry-academia collaboration.

Through the GTP activities, NUT is going to promote a relationship with Chile in future.
