American becomes first foreign vice principal of Shibaura Institute of Technology Junior and Senior High School

June 28, 2019

Dallas Kenny, an advisor to Shibaura Institute of Technology's Division of Global Initiatives, took up the position of vice principal in charge of international affairs at the university's affiliate, Shibaura Institute of Technology Junior and Senior High School, on May 1, 2019. Kenny, who is from the United States, is the first foreign national to become vice principal at the school. He will retain the SIT advisor post.

Shibaura Institute of Technology Junior and Senior High School is committed to promoting its global-minded approach by accepting international students and strengthening cooperative ties with high schools overseas and international schools in Tokyo and neighboring prefectures. SIT has significantly expanded its international outlook since 2014, when it became the only private science and engineering university selected for the 10-year Top Global University Project.

In fiscal 2017, the junior and senior high school relocated to Toyosu in Tokyo's Koto Ward, where SIT's Toyosu Campus is located. This move has helped strengthen collaboration between the senior high school and university. Against this backdrop, Kenny was invited to assume the post of vice principal to forge closer ties between the school and university and promote their global-minded approach.

Kenny has more than 25 years of experience at U.S. universities, working for international exchange and study abroad programs as well as international academic collaborations. Kenny is expected to lead globalization efforts at the junior and senior high school and further strengthen cooperation between the university and school.
