Okayama University organized two Online Study in Japan Fairs for Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia in January and February 2021 as part of the Study in Japan Global Network Project in ASEAN commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports Science and Technology (MEXT) - Japan. The first fair targeted Myanmar was conducted as "Online Study in Japan Fair 2021 Myanmar" from 31 January to 13 February 2021. While the other targeted Laos and Cambodia was implemented as "Online Education Fair 2021 Cambodia/Laos" from 16 to 19 February 2021. The purpose of the online fairs was to promote Study in Japan from these target countries and to support the whole processes from an entrance to a university to an employment by providing information on job hunting and employment in Japan.

It was such a great honor to have a video message for encouragement in Myanmar language by H.E. MARUYAMA Ichiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of the Union in Myanmar as well as encouragement messages by Mr. WATANABE Taimei, Chief Representative for Myanmar, Mitsubishi Corporation, Joint representative, Myanmar-Japan Platform for Human Resource Development (MJPF) and Dr. Myo Khin, President of Myanmar Association of Japan Alumni (MAJA) for a special web page for the fair in Myanmar. Moreover, documents and movies that promote Study and Job in Japan were provided by MAJA, Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), MJPF, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), The Japan Foundation (JF) and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

While in Cambodia and Laos, Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) and Laos-Japan Institute (LJI) supported in public relations in each country as co-hosts of the fair.

In total 28 Japanese universities and educational institutions for Myanmar and 20 for Laos and Cambodia had online consultations for those who wish to Study in Japan and to introduce scholarship programs during the fairs. The special web page was published in advance of the fairs to introduce participating institutions and to provide Study in Japan information for participants.

In Myanmar, Okayama University organized a Study in Japan fair on site annually for six times, however, the fair for 2021 had to be held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the last-minute amendment of consultation method and tools due to the sudden change of social situation in Myanmar, there were 413 participants throughout the period. While 361 attended the online fair for Laos and Cambodia which was the very first attempt for Okayama University.

Okayama University continues to organize Study in Japan fairs and seminars for those who wish to Study in Japan even amid COVID-19 pandemic to provide relevant information.
