At Chiang Mai University (CMU) in northern Thailand, on August 31, 2017, an opening ceremony was held for the Joint Master's Degree Program in Architecture and the KIT Overseas Office at Chiang Mai University.

The joint degree ceremony was attended by Consul General Kawada of the Consulate-General of Japan in Chiang Mai; CMU's acting president, Professor Emeritus, Dr. Avudh Srisukri; KIT President, Dr. Masao Furuyama and other university officials. After an explanation of the Joint Degree system by CMU's Dr. Ekkachai Mahaek and introduction of the first-year students, a lecture was given on renovation and office design and aims of this office by KIT Prof. Hiroaki Kimura.

This office is located in the graduate school building of our partner institution, CMU, and it will be used for joint degree program administration, international collaborative workshops, collaborative research, overseas internships and more. It will also be used as a north Thailand base for KIT International Academic Exchange Club (KITEC).

It is expected that this office will be pivotal as a base for a wide range of educational research activities and academic-industry collaborative overseas internship projects in northern Thailand and the surrounding countries of ASEAN.
