NUT held a seminar on "Elimination of Violence against Women" organized by Student SDGs Promoter.

On Wednesday, November 25, Student SDGs Promoter organized a seminar on the elimination of violence against women.

 
The seminar was held to coincide with "International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women" (November 25) which is the final day of the "Campaign for Eliminating Violence against Women" (November 12-25). The purpose of the seminar was to raise awareness for the elimination of various kinds of violence and discrimination issues faced by women all over the world including Japan.

 

The seminar was held online also streamed simultaneously via SNS for everyone to participate including overseas universities. The lecture was given by Ms. Edirisinghe Arachchige Chayani Dilrukshi, a Student SDGs Promoter from Department of Information and Management Systems Engineering of Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT). She gave a presentation on multiple cases of all over the world including Japan using presentation materials prepared in both English and Japanese. Mr. Ayesh Madushanka Wijayasinghe who is from Sri Lanka Press Council joined as a guest speaker and gave a presentation on "The Impact of Media on Violence against Women". There were more than 40 participants and there was a lively exchange of ideas after the seminar.

 

NUT will keep supporting the activities of the students and continue to push ahead with university-wide initiatives to achieve the SDGs.
