April 18, 2023
From January 27 to March 3, 2023, 11undergraduate students from NUT participated in the Language Training Program at Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM). This program has been suspended due to the influence of Covid-19 since 2019, but it was held for the first time in three years.
During their stay, students stayed at UDEM campus dormitory and received lectures on English and Spanish. The program included site-visits with UDEM students, such as visiting the nearby history museums, art galleries and nature parks as well. From these activities, NUT students were able to experience various aspects of Mexican culture, and to interact with the Mexican students more closely. In addition, Company Visits also provided them with an opportunity to talk to Japanese people working locally and to think about a future of global activities. On the whole, the program was very productive.
In a post-program survey, many participants expressed their enthusiasm with responses such as "We were able to learn about the differences between Japan and Mexico, and improve language skills, particularly English." and " I want to go back to Monterrey for the Jitumu-Kunren (Internship) and achieve what I was not able to do in this program."
