Educators from sub-Saharan Africa pay a courtesy call on President Makino

8823_image_1.jpgOn September 3, seven educators from Malawi, Nigeria, South Sudan, and Zambia in sub-Saharan Africa paid a courtesy call on President Makino Hirofumi.
They came to Japan to participate in the Knowledge Co-Creation Program (Group and Region Focus) on Improvement of Quality Teaching and Evaluation Methodology in Primary Science and Mathematics for Sub-Saharan Africa. The program's implementation has been commissioned by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to Okayama University with the purpose of practicing and promoting quality education in science and mathematics in sub-Saharan Africa.
8823_image_2.jpgPresident Makino referred to the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) held in Yokohama and encouraged them, saying, "While the importance of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) is growing as the foundation of science and mathematics education, you are playing a vital role in practicing and promoting such education. I hope that you will learn many things through this program."
