Director General Ouk Setouchet of the General Department of Sports at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in Kingdom of Cambodia visits Okayama University

8873_image_1.jpgOn October 29, Director General Ouk Setouchet of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in Cambodia (MoEYS) and other officials from the ministry visited Okayama University and paid a courtesy call on President MAKINO Hirofumi.

The delegation was welcomed not only by President MAKINO, but also by Dr. KAGA Masaru, Vice President for Social Collaboration, Dr. KIMURA Kunio, Vice President for International Affairs, and other representatives of Okayama University. They talked about the interactions to date between the Kingdom of Cambodia and Okayama University, including the Kingdom of Cambodia Sports Days promoted since 2013 through cooperation among the MoEYAS, Okayama University, Hearts of Gold (NPO), and the government of Okayama Prefecture, for 8873_image_2.jpgthe purpose of developing a system so that Quality Physical Education is available at all schools in the Kingdom of Cambodia. They also exchanged opinions with a view to further cooperation in the future.

As well as visiting Okayama University, Director General Ouk Setouchet and the other officials also visited some high schools and other institutes in Okayama Prefecture to obtain a useful reference to prepare Cambodian guidelines for high school physical education. "We would like to utilize this experience for developing human resources for Cambodian physical education," they explained. At the end of the courtesy visit, a letter of appreciation was granted to President MAKINO in recognition of the contribution made so far by Okayama University's Graduate School of Education and Faculty of Education to physical education in

the Kingdom of Cambodia.
